DESCRIPTION:Help Save Endangered Butterflies—Collect Lupine Seeds\nJoin the Ice Age Trail Alliance\, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service\, and Riverland Conservancy for seed collection events at three preserves along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. \nYour efforts will support the Federally endangered Karner blue butterfly\, which relies on wild lupine (Lupinus perennis) as the sole host plant for its larvae. Harvesting seeds from thriving prairies can expand Karner blue habitat across Alliance-owned and partner properties. \nWhat You’ll Help Do:\nJoin us for a unique chance to walk through a stunning\, wildflower filled prairie\, clipping and collecting lupine seed pods. \nStaff from the Alliance and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be on hand to show you what and where to pick\, and they’ll stay nearby to answer questions. \nAfterward\, relax with wine\, snacks\, and non-alcoholic drinks\, and connect with fellow volunteers who share your passion for conservation. \nSeed and Sip Schedule and Locations:\nCome to one or more of our open-house-style seed collection events—drop in anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. \n\nTuesday\, June 17: Merrimac Preserve in Sauk County (owned by the Riverland Conservancy)\nWednesday\, June 18: Alliance-owned Muir Preserve in Marquette County\nWednesday\, June 25: Alliance-owned Karner Meadow Preserve in Marquette County\n\nWhat to Bring:\n\nGardening gloves\nClose-toed shoes\nSun hat/sunscreen\nBug spray\nLong pants\, long sleeve shirt (we will be in tall grass)\nPersonal drinking water and container\nPicnic or snacks*\nRaingear – we will work in light rain\, please check the forecast\n\n*The Ice Age Trail Alliance will provide light refreshments and snacks.

SUMMARY:Point Beach State Forest North – Lakeshore Chapter
DESCRIPTION:The Hike\nWe will hike from the Red Pine parking lot north on the Red Pine trail\, and then continue north to County Highway V. There will be an option to hike even further north to check out the Rahr Memorial School Forest.  The School Forest includes a 0.3 mile curving boardwalk that crosses a swamp / wetland full of trees\, wildflowers\, frogs\, turtles\, ducks\, and other wildlife. \nEvent Details\nThe hike is 2.0 miles one way to County Highway V\, with another mile through the School Forest to Lake Shore Rd. The total hike will be 6.0 miles round trip including the School Forest\, or 4.0 miles without. \nA shuttle can be provided for those who want to hike only one direction.
